Hearing Loss is a condition that affects many people all over the world. The National Institute of Deafness and Other Hearing Disorders (NIDCD), provides statistic that will give an insight into those affected by hearing damage.

According to NIDCD, 17 percent of Americans suffer from some kind of hearing health problems; that would be approximately 36 million individuals. The majority of people suffering from loss of hearing are 75 years of age or older. Although it also affects 18 percent of American adults between 45-64 years old.

Children may also suffer from a hearing condition. As NIDCD states “About 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born deaf or hard-of-hearing. Nine out of every 10 children who are born deaf are born to parents who can hear.”

If you believe you may suffer from loss of hearing, contact your local Audiologist, such as Dr. Joseph Duran. This expert will provide you with a hearing test, to help diagnose and treat the condition.
